Job Title: Controller, Real Estate

Location: Fort Lauderdale, onsite

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join a dynamic real estate team. As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of their operations, ensuring financial health and integrity while driving strategic financial decisions. This role offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated finance team and collaborate closely with senior management to support the company's growth and success in the real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, offering strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of audits.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting, including working capital management and capital expenditure analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze financial metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to department heads and project managers, assisting in decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in the real estate industry.
  • Strong understanding of real estate financial principles, including property management, leasing, and development.
  • Experience with financial software and systems (e.g., Yardi)
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and practices, GAAP, and financial regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a finance team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and enhancing financial controls.
