Job Overview – Controller, Real Estate – 33018
Job Summary: The Controller will be a vital member of the company, directly reporting to the CEO. The position is primarily office-based, requiring a hands-on approach and a commitment to full-time presence at our headquarters.
Responsibilities:
Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances.
Report financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.
Manage budget and controls expenses effectively by obtaining, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition for real estate transactions.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard company assets.
Develop and maintain financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and property portfolio management.
Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall company goals and initiatives.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; and advising management on needed actions.
Enhance, develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
Assist with developing financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
Minimum 7 years of financial and management experience with day-to-day financial operations exposure in the real estate industry preferred.
Extensive accounting experience with ability to streamline processes and reporting within the financial platform. Experience with NetSuite preferred.
