Job Overview – Controller, Real Estate – 33018

Job Summary: The Controller will be a vital member of the company, directly reporting to the CEO. The position is primarily office-based, requiring a hands-on approach and a commitment to full-time presence at our headquarters.

Responsibilities:


  • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Report financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.
  • Manage budget and controls expenses effectively by obtaining, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition for real estate transactions.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safeguard company assets.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and property portfolio management.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall company goals and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; and advising management on needed actions.
  • Enhance, develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Assist with developing financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans.


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of financial and management experience with day-to-day financial operations exposure in the real estate industry preferred.
  • Extensive accounting experience with ability to streamline processes and reporting within the financial platform. Experience with NetSuite preferred.
