JMP Solutions runs on the skill and expertise of Controls Specialists. Responsible for virtually all technical work with respect to projects and service provided to customers, as a Control Specialist with JMP you would have a pivotal role in solving our customer’s business problems using your creativity and technical expertise to create, design and implement innovative controls systems solutions. Be on the front lines interfacing with customers while providing tier-1 service and support and value-added expertise in the areas of project management and business development.
What would a typical day be like?
Controls Specialists will work on various stages of automation and control projects including: electrical design, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA design and development, Networking design and troubleshooting/testing/debugging
Provide written functional requirement specifications and sequence of operation documents
Provide specific technical expertise and guidance in the development of employee skills, acting as a mentor and coach for junior employees as a cohesive team player
Deliver an extraordinary customer experience by interfacing with clients and project managers to provide status updates, attend client field service and emergency calls, partake in customer meetings, and ability to share your technical expertise
Participate in planning sessions with the Branch and Business Development Manager that will identify opportunities for new proposals, drafting of proposals, and explain/negotiate proposals with clients as well as partake in client meetings
What qualifies you for this opportunity?
Engineering graduate in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Systems Design, or equivalent experience/technical degree
4 - 7 years+ relevant work experience
Experience in design, procurement, programming PLCs (PLC-5, SLC500, ControlLogix, CompactLogix)
Experience with Siemens, Schneider, Emerson would be considered an asset
Experience with script programming is an asset
HMI/SCADA Programming (Wonderware System Platform, Ignition, PanelView) including Network architecture design as well as the ability to debug, test and commission
Experience with various communications networks
Knowledgeable regarding manufacturing processes
Fundamental skills in field troubleshooting, installation, and support.
Fundamental understanding of control system drawings and diagrams
Experience with the Food and Beverage industry would be considered an asset
Ability to learn and train on the job, using resources available
Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Controls Specialists at JMP should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada, on average about 30% annually

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
