Cost Accountant

Description:

We are looking for a detail oriented and experienced Cost Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a strong foundation in cost accounting, enabling them to effectively support our manufacturing operations and contribute to our financial success. As a member of the SWARCO McCain family, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive cost analysis related to materials, labor, and overhead costs. This role is critical in ensuring accurate cost reporting, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting strategic financial planning.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Conduct cost analysis for manufacturing operations, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
• Review BOMs and Routings for accuracy.
• Review costs and variance trends.
• Establishes labor and overhead rates.
• Able to research complex transaction.
• Responsible for account reconciliation of physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation.
• Document policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Review Capex requests and capitalize assets as required.
• Implement tracking system for existing and new assets.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing by analyzing inventory and preparing supplemental reports as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company procedures.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
  
  

Requirements:

• Must have BS degree in Accounting with a minimum 7-10 years hands-on cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment.
• Must be advanced in Excel with the ability to analyze a large database.
• ERP system experience (SAP knowledge beneficial).
• Microsoft Dynamics experience helpful, but not required.
• Requires thorough knowledge of cost accounting methods, principles, and practices. Must have the ability to apply this creatively in situations where procedures may not be well defined.
• Requires a broad understanding of manufacturing operations.
• Must be able to compare actual costs with estimate or standard costs and analyze variances.
• Requires tact, good judgment, and a highly developed sense of responsibility.
• Must be familiar with MRP, BOM’s, work orders, and related cost accounting activities.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
• Occasional travel to our plant in Tijuana as needed. Approximately 5-10% travel.
• Must have valid passport. Sentry or Global entry pass helpful.
  
  

Physical Conditions / Requirements

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Occasional – Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
• Job frequently requires sitting and handling objects with hands.
• Job occasionally requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and or electronically.
• Ability to travel by car to Tijuana, Mexico.
