Our Alternative Markets division is currently searching for a Data Specialist to support our program business.
Responsibilities:
Prepares moderately complex financial and business related analysis and reporting. Defines business and legal reporting requirements through research, interpretation of regulations, and business unit requests to meet customer needs.
Collects and analyzes data for validity and accuracy in preparation of assigned reports.
Develops and maintains department databases and assesses quality of data used in moderately complex reports.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of data sources content and structure to assess the quality of data.
Identifies and makes recommendations for resolution of identified issues in data and reporting quality.
Utilizes department / company software to prepare moderately complex data queries.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of industry and company products/coverages and applies that knowledge to support business activity.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of relevant resource materials and manuals may include: statistical manuals, statistical plans, coding guides, claims, underwriting, and premium audit files.
Provides technical advice to lower level associates and other functional areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related discipline OR equivalent experience
4 or more years of related experience.
Proficiency in relational database tools (i.e., SQL, Cognos, etc.).
Proficiency in TOAD or similar query and reporting tool.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products especially Excel.
Successful candidate should be able to create ad hoc reports including join queries, create prompts, charts, etc.
Previous experience in the insurance industry preferred.
