The salary range for this position is $82,918.80 - $103,648.50/annually.

This position is fulltime in office, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
. This position is in the Aurora Police Department (APD), Performance Standards. The incumbent serves as the Lead Data Scientist and is responsible to support department operations, consent decree and accreditation compliance, and conduct data analysis related to quality assurance efforts. Additionally, this individual helps ensure a cohesive approach and strategy for collecting, analyzing, and reporting departmental data and serves as a link to each of APD’s operational divisions. The individual provides overall strategic leadership, research capabilities, and guidance related to data and intelligence operation
s.The Data Scientist Lead as a civilian (or career service) member of the Standards Section of the Aurora Police Department (APD) supports department operations, consent decree and accreditation compliance, and conduct data analysis related to quality assurance efforts. In addition, the successful incumbent ensures a cohesive approach and strategy for collecting, analyzing, and reporting departmental data, and serves as a link to each operational division within APD. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITI
- ES Provides confidential and high-level support and advice to the Chief of Police and senior agency officials regarding responsibilities for managing and directing complex and highly sensitive APD progra
- ms.Frequently interacts with the agency’s operational commanders to understand current trends, operations, and da
- ta.Manages major issues and topical areas involving the agency, with particular emphasis on those projects and issues relating to broad agency initiatives and quality assurance of operational focus are
- as.Manages comprehensive research studies including working with department stakeholders to identify and outline operational needs and requirements; developing surveys and collection models; and gathering and reviewing programmatic and statistical da
- ta.Conducts best practice reviews of other law enforcement agencies and academic resources on current and emerging policing policies, initiatives, and compliance evaluatio
- ns.Provides oversight on data collection and documentation related to tracking and evaluation of implementation of programs developed and initiated by the Chief of Police and/or senior leadersh
- ip.Serves as an expert advisor and liaison to Executive Command Staff and external stakeholders on police department da
