The Director of Finance/Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and treasury management. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company’s overall objectives and drive sustainable growth.

Essential Functions

  • General Accounting. Oversee the company’s accounting functions , including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting. Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within he finance function.
  • Financial Reporting. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Develop and maintain financial reporting systems to provide transparent and reliable financial information. Provide timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting to executive management, including variance analysis, KPIs, and trend analysis.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting. Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic financial plans. Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial results. Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements based on financial analysis.
  • Internal Controls. Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Conduct regular reviews of financial processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
  • SSAE18/SOC 2 Management. Oversight of engagements and internal activities related to SOC2/SSAE18 examinations. Partner cross-functionally and inter-departmentally to understand the process from end to end perspective and appropriately and effectively communicates with these partners to understand the status of the company as a whole. Communicate appropriately with partners at all levels, including developing and presenting recommendations on operations and controls for the business unit.
  • Cash Management. Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor banking activities, including reconciliations, deposits, and disbursements, to maintain accurate cash balances. Optimize cash management strategies to maximize returns on idle cash and minimize borrowing costs.
  • Financial Analysis. Analyze financial data and performance metrics to provide insights into business trends, opportunities, and risks. Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial results. Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports to support decision making by senior management. Collaborate with department heads to develop KPIs and track financial performance against targets.
  • Team Leadership. Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster professional development. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and to achieve organizational goals.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPR or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years of supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis techniques.
  • Strong understand of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance in financial operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decision-making.
