Job Description 

  

Job Title: Disability Accommodation Specialist – Level II 

  

Location: Hunter College- Office of AccessABILITY 


Regular/Temporary: Regular 

  

GENERAL DUTIES 

This class of positions provides various services to disabled students. There are two assignment levels within this class. The following are typical tasks within this class of positions. Employees may perform other related duties for the purpose of providing support services to disabled students. Depending on the needs of service, this position's duties may require the use of one's automobile in the performance of official duties; moreover, these duties may be performed on campus or at the student's home. Positions report to the College Director of Disabled Student Services or equivalent. Upon application to the University Personnel Director, a college may utilize this title for persons who provide similar services to disabled employees. 

  

CONTRACT TITLE 

Disability Accommodation Specialist- Level II 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education and four years of related work experience, OR Education, and/or work experience equivalent to the above.

CAMPUS-SPECIFIC INFORMATION,  

Review documentation and assign accommodations per need. Determine the need for further evaluations through intake interviews or review of previous records. Provide effective referral and follow-up process. Keep a caseload of students with Disabilities. Disseminate information on student accommodations and provide advocacy. Assist all students, individually or in a group, with developing academic, career, and personal/social skills, academic goals, and plans. Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data. Collaborates with educators to assist students with educational goals and planning. Provide individual and group advising for students with identified disabilities. Accurately and appropriately use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group services and for creating reports. Assist in collecting and analyzing data to enhance services for students with disabilities. Assist faculty and staff in accommodating students in the classroom and for testing. Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills. Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and assist with appropriate interventions. Adheres to the policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the office. Provide reports and other related services as requested.   


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS,  

Baccalaureate degree (Masters Preferred) in related fields with minimum 2-year experience within Disability Service or related field. Essential skills and abilities: Understanding the needs of students with disabilities. Have Excellent Organizational and Communication Skills. Have a Computer (Word, Excel, etc.) Skills. have familiarity with Assistive Technologies and its applications.   

 

COMPENSATION,  

$28.96 -$32.71 per hour (Commensurate with experience) Up to 32 hours per week
