About This Position

The education supervisor is responsible for supervising and evaluating child development staff within the organization’s Early Learning Program. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization’s mission and achieve its strategic goals.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintaining current knowledge in child development theory and practice, including program curriculum (specifically the HighScope curriculum);
  • Assessing training needs of teaching staff and conducting individual or group workshops;
  • Working effectively with the Program Innovations Department to meet the needs of teaching staff;
  • Modeling appropriate teaching strategies;
  • Participating in development of the annual program plan assessments and program reviews;
  • Promoting full enrollment and participating in recruitment of children, as directed;
  • Coordinating with other components for effective and unified delivery of all program services;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of licensing from funding source(s) and licensing authorities;
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate staffing to ensure compliance with program requirements (including substituting as needed);
  • Conducting and documenting required site visits;
  • Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis according to organization policies and procedures;
  • Working effectively with other team members;
  • Using sensitivity and good judgment when interacting with children, parents, and staff;
  • Representing the Early Learning Program and the organization in the community and with other agencies;
  • Communicating program needs to the education manager;
  • Assisting the education manager as needed;
  • Actively participating in staff meetings and the annual in-service;
  • Abiding by all agency policies and procedures;
  • Attending trainings as required;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor's degree in child development, education, or related field;
  • Child development site supervisor permit (preferred);
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a child development setting;
  • Four years of professional teaching experience in a child development program;
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
  • California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and current automobile liability insurance;
  • Current certification in pediatric CPR (yearly) and pediatric first aid (yearly) that is acceptable to community care licensing (Health and Safety code 1596.866);
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred);

Job specifications

  • Reports to the education manager;
  • Full-time, 12-month work year;
  • Eight-hour workday; four-day work week;
  • Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule to be determined by management;
  • Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.
