Description

Job Summary: An Electrical Controls Engineer is a professional responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical control systems and components. Their primary focus is on creating efficient and reliable control solutions for various applications, such as industrial automation, manufacturing processes, and machinery.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs electrical control systems based on project requirements and specifications. This involves creating detailed schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Writes and implements control system software using programming languages like ladder logic, structured text, or other PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming languages.
  • Integrates electrical control systems with other hardware components, such as sensors, actuators, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs).
  • Conducts thorough testing of control systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety. Identifies and resolves any issues through debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical control systems within larger projects.
  • Ensures that control systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements. Stays updated on relevant codes and standards.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation for all aspects of the electrical control systems, including design specifications, programming code, and testing procedures.
  • Assists in the commissioning and startup of control systems, including on-site testing and validation.
  • Provides ongoing support for installed control systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements or modifications as needed.
  • Stays informed about advancements in electrical control technologies and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

An individual in this job must have attained a minimum of BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology to meet entry-level requirements. Education beyond the minimum is an added advantage for career development activities.

The individual will have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of industry experience or equivalent experience in a similar industry.

  • Some travel is expected for this position and is subject to change according to business needs.
