EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Position Summary:


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for The Northwest Center's staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.


Responsibilities:


Leadership & Management:


  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.


  • Coordinate and lead the annual budget process; conduct monthly, quarterly and annual reviews, and periodic forecast updates


  • Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders.


  • Maintain and build strong relationships with peers, key stakeholders, the media, and industry associations.


  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing operations as well as for programmatic growth.


  • Plan and prepare meeting structure and information for board meetings, including providing all information necessary for the board to function properly and to make informed decisions.


  • Hire, lead, develop, support, and retain staff.


  • Ensure effective systems to track regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.


  • Evaluate program outcomes on an ongoing basis, using data and feedback from stakeholders.


  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as high ethical standards.


Fundraising & Communications:


  • Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and growth.


  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.


  • Be an external presence that publishes and communicates program results.


  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.


Planning & New Business:


  • Design and complete the strategic business planning process for program development and growth.


  • Maintain and build partnerships, establishing relationships with key organizations, funders, and community and political leaders.
