Family Services Coordinator, Bellevue

Pay Range: Starts at $14.00 (depending on experience)

Position Summary: Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the ­­­­­­Senior Program Director, the Family Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of YPLAY and Youth Activity Center programs. S/he will assist with the development and promotion of quality programs and provide supervision and guidance to program staff to ensure all specific duties are carried out.

Essential Functions

  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Work directly with the Association and center leadership in developing programming, planning and overseeing daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans and general program operations
  • Ensure safe and risk free environment at all times while meeting the individual needs of the participants
  • Be available during “after-school” hours and on days when local school system is out of session or cancelled and implement activities for youth during "school break" hours
  • Ensure all program schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; comply with the program schedule, arriving to work daily on time and working as a flexible team player
  • Interact effectively with the program staff as a total system, with participants’ best interest in mind
  • Plan activities for children; arts and crafts, and fitness-oriented programming for healthier lifestyles; understand developmentally appropriate practices and provide constructive activities that entertain and educate youth
  • Oversee work of youth on computers to ensure electronic communication policies are followed
  • Communicate with parents and address concerns in timely manner; seek the help of supervisor or center executive if needed
  • Assist with the various administrative tasks, coordinate schedules and complete all necessary reports; take inventory of and help purchase necessary supplies
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; provide ongoing performance feedback; schedule staff accordingly to meet the needs of the program
  • Know, understand, train and execute all program policies and emergency procedures associated with the program
  • Help ensure the cleanliness of all YMCA facilities by participating in light cleaning and organizing supplies
  • Work with and follow planned initiatives as directed by Family Services committees and Association leadership; participate in Family Services Cabinets

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in the field of children programming ages 2-11 preferred; supervisory or management experience preferred

Certifications Required

  • Upon hire: New Hire Orientation Training
  • Within 30 days of hire: CPR/ First Aid/ AED, and not scheduled alone + EAP
  • Within 60 days of hire: Attend Introduction to Listen First
  • Within six months of hire: Complete course training and Certify in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
