Field Service Technician

Job Summary

Travels to customer production facilities to provide assistance with packaging material quality and performance issues. Supports customer in proper operating conditions on packaging machine for packaging material supplied. Works with internal manufacturing personnel to provide perspective of customer concerns and aid quality and performance improvements efforts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Schedules and conducts routine visits to customer production facilities to provide assistance with packaging material quality and performance issues.
  • Makes unscheduled visits as requested by customer or company sales personnel.
  • Observes materials in process and or examines materials rejected by customer to determine reason for failure.
  • Completes reports on rejected materials and ensures customer receives appropriate credits.
  • Works with customer management and manufacturing personnel in a manner necessary to maintain and develop positive relationships and continuously improve quality and performance.
  • Conducts training for customer personnel as requested.
  • Completes and issues call reports to company management team.
  • Holds meeting with manufacturing personnel to review specific issues and continuously improve lamination and slitting quality and efficiency.
  • Works with personnel as needed to ensure returned material goals are met or exceeded.
  • Assists customer in establishing proper packaging machinery operating conditions.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Education And Experience

  • High school education or equivalent required. Some college or technical school preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in flexible packaging manufacturing operations with emphasis on knowledge of laminating and finishing processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of packaging machine operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of form and fill packaging machines

  • Ability to maintain and develop positive relationships with customers.
  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot packaging machinery performance (various manufacturers).
  • Ability to troubleshoot vertical or horizontal form and fill machinery
  • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
