Financial Controller

HR Soul is currently partnering with a high growth company that operates in the pharmaceutical space. They are seeking a talented and experienced Controller who will work in their Largo office and manage a mid-size team.

The Controller is tasked with strategizing and supervising the company's accounting functions. This role involves managing the overall activities of the Accounting Department, including providing guidance to the financial team for optimal performance. The Controller is responsible for training and coaching team members to excel in financial matters, and also plays a crucial role in expense control and maintaining sound financial operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Hire, train and evaluate staff members within the department to ensure a sufficient number of staff members are available to handle the workload.
• Oversees the production of financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) or international financial reporting standards.
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Perform quarterly and monthly revenue recognition analyses according to GAAP standards.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information.
• Files quarterly/annual filings and payments to all state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Participates in annual SOC Audit.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated success in the areas of accounting and finance with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including people leadership.
• Sound financial acumen, including experience in budget development, financial analysis, and cost accounting.
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with executives and stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and lead teams through dynamic challenges.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
