The City of Chandler Fire Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Fire Senior Inspector, this is a full-time position with benefits. The position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday 8/5.

The City of Chandler Fire Department is a progressive, internationally accredited organization with an ISO Class 1 rating and a distinguished history of service to the community. City charter authorizes the Department to mitigate all hazards, including fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), hazardous materials response, technical rescue, and crisis intervention. In support of those functions, the Fire Department staffs a fire prevention division, EMS and training divisions, mechanical maintenance facility, community preparedness office, and Department administration.

Who We Are Looking For

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone who will Performs a variety of technical inspections of public, commercial, industrial, residential and other buildings and premises to secure compliance with the City's fire prevention codes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED and additional college coursework in Fire Science or related field
  • 4 years of experience in fire prevention or related inspection work
  • International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I Certification
  • State Fire Inspector I (or an equivalent/acceptable substitute such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Inspector)
  • Fire/Arson Investigator Certification (AZIAAI I-IV, or NFA, or IAAI, or NAFI, or equivalent state Certification) within 6 months of hire or promotion
  • AZ State Fire Inspector II and an ICC Fire Inspector II Certifications within 1 year of hire or promotion
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

The position available is a regular full-time position and is subject to a 6 month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city's Drug Free Workplace Policy. Certain positions within the city are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment or volunteer opportunity. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
