Freelance Communications Assistant, NBC News

The role is responsible with providing support to the NBC News Communications team. This will be a 6 month temporary assignment, subject to change.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Continuous monitoring of all press clippings – spanning all print/online to TV/audio – related to NBC News and the industry each day
  • Assist department on research projects, transcribing interviews and other assigned projects
  • Forwarding press requests to the appropriate contact
  • Assist with media announcements and major events, as well as breaking news and special events
  • Perform administrative support tasks, including managing press lists, coverage documents, team calendar, meeting schedules, bios and headshots and other assignments as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Must have experience in communications or public relations
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and have basic computer skills
  • Must be well versed in social media and online technology
  • Must be willing to work nights/weekends if needed

  • Highly proficient in time management and communication and ability to juggle and meet numerous deadlines
  • Possess keen attention to detail
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Understanding of television or news business helpful
  • Knowledge of Muckrack a plus
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn more and be engaged NBC NEWS
