Home Care Aide - PRN

Job Summary

Provides patient/resident care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Assists patient/residents with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate competence prior to assignment of home care aide services. Certification as a nurses' aide will demonstrate competence. Must have proof of completion of an approved Aide Training Course.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
  • Must possess a valid Iowa driver's license and meet satisfactory motor vehicle record requirements.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of his/her own auto insurance policy.
  • Must complete 12 hours of OBRA training hours per year.
  • Must maintain his/her own auto insurance policy.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally. Must work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Previous acute or long-term care experience preferred.
  • Technical and critical thinking skills required to perform duties.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
