Fisher & Phillips is a national employment and labor law firm and we are looking for an experienced Immigration Paralegal to primarily support our Seattle and San Francisco offices. In this role, the Immigration Paralegal provides experienced know-how, quality, and document preparation to support high-paced turnaround of business-based immigration petitions and applications while providing high-end client support and working collaboratively with immigration peers and attorneys. This is a cohesive team that is well-managed and well-organized with secretarial and clerical support.

Position Responsibilities

  • Familiar and experienced with the most common types of employment-based immigration cases.
  • Work in a team environment while building knowledge of Firm, client and Immigration processes and procedures.
  • Under direction of Attorneys, take lead with client communications for intake of cases, collection of documents and information, preparation of forms and documents, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide guidance on case processing to clients and foreign national employees as directed.
  • Apply past accrued experience in employment-based immigration matters and cases while developing further knowledge and experience within nuanced immigration matters.
  • Evaluate cases, communicate concerns, and proactively and appropriately escalate if/as necessary to managing attorneys.
  • Draft petition/application forms, support letters, and assemble supporting documents for attorney review and government submission.
  • Have past understanding and working knowledge to initiate matters in INSZoom as well as drafting forms therein.
  • Run weekly case reports for attorney/s using INSZoom Reports and may be requested to run client reports for attorney calls with clients from INSZoom Reports.
  • Competent with case management and other reporting tools and technologies used to manage data and information.
  • Manage status of all filed applications and petitions per policy and utilize Firm document, data management, and accounting/billing systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of work.
  • As directed, make contact with government agencies to obtain information regarding any potential process delays or problems and communicates the same to attorney.
  • Conduct pertinent research as necessary to gather information, e.g. background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.
  • Able to juggle multiple assignments and/or deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor and timely seeks assistance when needed.
  • Willing and capable to offer assistance to others when needed.
  • Maintains an exceptional client service attitude and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Shows initiative, flexibility, resiliency and a willingness to adapt to change.
  • Takes ownership and gets the job done without the need for prodding or supervision.

Requirements

  • Must have 3+ years working experience as an immigration paralegal in a fast-paced business immigration environment.
  • Reside within commuting distance of either the San Francisco or Seattle offices.
  • Foreign language skills are a plus, preferably Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean.
  • Experience preparing H-1B, L-1A/B, TN, E-2 visa applications, I-140, petitions, I-485 applications, and PERM applications, preferably supporting large clients have numerous foreign national population.
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, INSZoom, and a document management system.
  • Outstanding case management and organizational skills.
  • Possess strong business writing skills and an attention to detail

The hourly rate range for this position is $36.54 - $44.62. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
