Job Title: Export-Import Specialist (Steel and Aluminum Coils)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Export-Import Specialist specializing in steel and aluminum coil imports from Asian and Arabic markets. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of US trade regulations, Incoterms, freight logistics, customs procedures, and product classification. This role demands strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.


Key Responsibilities:

Import Coordination:

  • Oversee the import process of steel and aluminum coils from Asian and Arabic suppliers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate shipment.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure adherence to delivery schedules.


Trade Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with US and international trade laws.
  • Apply appropriate Incoterms to manage risks and costs effectively.
  • Accurately classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).


Cost Management:

  • Calculate and manage landing costs, including duties and taxes.
  • Analyze and negotiate freight costs to optimize shipping expenses.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and reports for management review.


Customs Clearance:

  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for customs clearance.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers to resolve any clearance issues promptly.
  • Maintain meticulous records to ensure compliance with customs regulations.


Supplier and Freight Forwarder Relations:

  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers and freight forwarders.
  • Evaluate and select reliable carriers and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions to ensure optimal service levels


Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with international trade activities.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Monitor geopolitical developments and currency fluctuations affecting trade.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and compliance activities.
  • Generate regular reports on import activities, costs, and compliance status.
  • Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and accessible for inspections


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.


Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in export-import operations, focusing on steel and aluminum coils.


Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of US trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
  • Proficient in calculating landing and freight costs.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with trade management software preferred.
