Overview

We are seeking a Laser/Glue Engineer with experience with joining technologies, clinching, gluing and fluid technology, SAPipro, experience with project management, equipment installation, knowledge of manufacturing methods/procedures and process technology. This role requires hands-on support during downtimes and flexibility for overtime, weekends, and night shifts.


Responsibilities

Laser Systems Engineer

  • Design, develop, and optimize laser systems used in body shop manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct initial machine testing, set up machine programming, and monitor machinery for optimal performance.
  • Implement and maintain laser safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair laser equipment as needed to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production flow.

Glue Systems Engineer

  • Develop and optimize adhesive application processes, ensuring the correct bonding of body components.
  • Monitor and adjust glue dispensing systems to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Analyze and solve issues related to adhesive applications, including troubleshooting equipment and addressing material defects.
  • Maintain detailed records of adhesive materials and their performance.

Process Improvement and Optimization

  • Conduct data analysis on production processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance equipment capacity, quality, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop best practices for laser and glue applications.

Project Management

  • Lead medium to large-scale projects involving laser and glue system upgrades or new installations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal departments to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Prepare detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.

Maintenance and Documentation

  • Implement preventive maintenance programs for laser and glue equipment.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, including equipment performance and repair history.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety and quality standards.
  • Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure all laser and adhesive processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.


Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant degree required

  • 5 years plus of relevant experience required, strongly preferring automotive environment
  • 3D-CAD experience such as; SolidWorks, Catia, Siemens NX, ect
  • Experience with Paint applications (chemicals, sprays, filtration, pumps, degreaser, hydrocyclones, rectifier process, anodes, anolyte systems, ultra-filtration, DI-water, industrial paint oven curing)
  • Experience with joining technologies, clinching, gluing and fluid technology
  • SAPipro
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods/procedures and process technology
  • Ability to present complex technical information related to achieving goals of the department
  • Able to influence team members at all levels of the organization
  • Proven written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization with good negotiation skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot, instruct repair techniques, & assist if needed for root cause analysis in stressful situations
  • Ability to read & create blueprints and schematics
