Manager, Operational Excellence

The Manager, Operational Excellence plays a critical role in the operational excellence strategy and execution of initiatives for goPuff. In this role, you will define, drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of our sites regionally and network-wide. In addition, you will create frameworks and mechanisms to guide teams and share best practices with your field partners and other critical cross functional teams. As a partner, change agent, and lean practitioner, you will provide coaching support for functional leaders on subjects related to Operational Excellence and Lean leadership across the organization. Using data and analytics, you will be responsible to build strong relationships with your stakeholders and execute sustainable programs that simplify processes, improve quality, remove waste and reduce cost. Your analysis and deep insights into the business will help identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement across the organization. This is a remote position that requires heavy travel, with opportunity to be based anywhere in the contiguous United States.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field or related experience 5+ years of combined experience in operations, program/product management, and/or operational excellence/continuous improvement/process development roles with an emphasis on lean principles Extensive knowledge of change management and lean optimization principles, Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or equivalent work experience preferred Demonstrated track record of driving and implementing process improvements cross functionally Experience in e-commerce, grocery and food experience is preferred, but related industries will be considered Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodology preferred Experience delivering multiple concurrent projects with aggressive schedules Experience leading training, process mapping, and documentation Experience developing web-based team collaboration pages in Confluence, Share Point, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels - Self-starter that can identify issues and craft solutions with minimal direction Understanding of organizational transformation at scale Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Team leadership skills, including managing existing teams and growing new teams. - In-depth knowledge of business processes Broad financial knowledge for budgeting, profit plan obtainment etc Rigorous metrics and analytics skills to evaluate programs, performance, and drive reduction in variability/defects in critical business processes Experience with business case development, business analysis, design, and implementation support on critical projects including software lifecycle development and automation Excellent team dynamics skills focused on strong team leadership and participation Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization, emphasis on oral presentation skills, exceptional classroom training techniques, facilitation, coaching and feedback. Ability to challenge current state and motivated to improve the business; strong ability to influence without authority at all levels of the organization - Ability to think and drive strategic initiatives across a large span of operations - Courage to make difficult decisions and/or recommendations - Comfort with ambiguity - Ability to think outside of given frameworks and develop new ways to approach problems - Courage/experience to provide coaching/feedback to all levels of the organization including superiors - Excellent listening skills and emotional intelligence - Flexibility and ability to assimilate new knowledge and standards quickly - Drive for results, sense of urgency - Support continuous improvement efforts to meet and exceed customer requirements in a fast-paced environment. - Up to ~50% travel

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will do the following to support and drive process improvement initiatives: - Identify and drive multiple continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional alignment and stakeholder buy-in - Create and maintain clear, user-friendly process documentation: templates, tools, process maps, graphical representations, etc. - Manage and facilitate forums to share best practices and disseminate process changes - Lead training sessions on lean methodologies and associated focused topics - Partner with learning and development experts to craft online and live training and process materials to help deliver information at scale - Mentor Technical and non-technical stakeholders through the lean goPuff process - Develop and implement sustainable efficiency programs throughout the organization - Define and track key performance metrics for product development to measure process efficiencies and highlight bottlenecks - Leverage analytics, data and appropriate lean tools to improve overall business performance - Communicate roadmap, progress, and issues to senior leadership timely
