Job Overview

Building on our rich history and strength in legacy markets US markets and across Canada, Tim Hortons USA is building momentum in our expansion across the Southern USA. Tim Hortons has recently opened in Houston, TX, Columbus, GA and Atlanta, GA this year; with future growth planned for Dallas, Austin, Nashville and Kansas City. These new South markets will be the responsibility of this role. The Regional Marketing role is responsible for driving sales, traffic, and profitability at these new restaurants and introducing the Tim Hortons brand to the surrounding local communities. This new team member will also be in charge leading and executing all new store openings, including soft launch, grand opening, and sustainable period, as well as community engagement initiatives throughout the year. The RMM, New Markets reports to the Senior Manager, Regional Marketing, and collaborates with the Operations, Communications, Development, and Supply Chain functions. This role will manage a growing number of Owners over a large geographic area.

This is a high visibility role, requiring you to collaborate across our Leadership, Marketing and Operations to develop a strategic marketing plan. You will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of each new store opening, and regional campaigns from strategy, planning and execution. The ideal candidate has a background in introducing a high-growth restaurant brand to new markets in the US and successfully driving traffic.

You will work closely with the other Regional Marketing Managers who oversee the existing markets in the northern US and the Area Franchise Lead and Manager of Franchise Performance for the South region. You will also work with our central marketing functions for Tim Hortons US including Marketing, Digital & Technology, Operations, and Global Business Services.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Introduce: Plan and manage execution of New Market Entry marketing initiatives (for the first restaurant opening in a market), leveraging a playbook of tactics that have been used recently while also finding new and innovative ways to introduce the brand to specific new communities
  • Open: Plan and manage successful execution of Grand Openings in the South region (for each new restaurant opening)
  • Sustain: Plan and manage ongoing local/regional marketing initiatives to sustain market-wide sales in the South region
  • Responsible for managing franchisee relationships in the South region regarding marketing, including but not limited to establishing weekly/monthly status checks with owners which include in-person visits to local restaurants on a weekly basis
  • Responsible for supporting and executing any local/regional sports sponsorships and other brand related sponsorships
  • Work closely with the Tim Hortons national marketing team and Owners to ensure successful execution of brand programs including new product/promotion rollouts
  • Supports the analysis of marketing programs, new product introductions, promotions and effectively measures their success to help gain greater understanding of local sales, traffic, and profitability
  • Brings local and regional knowledge and context to the corporate team for understating sales and traffic patterns
  • Assist in onboarding digital sales channels, including third-party delivery, mobile app ordering, and exterior digital menu boards
  • Facilitates the accurate and timely communication of brand marketing programs, systems, and procedures to franchisees
  • Provides reporting and business/trend analysis allowing performance analytics team and franchisees to make profit-maximizing decisions

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field
  • Reside in Houston preferred, willingly to travel to each of the south markets
  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends for special events as necessary
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in QSR, Retail, Food & Beverage, franchise management, or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding an integrated marketing strategy, any event planning and project management
  • Take initiative and work with urgency to drive outcomes in a fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple priorities, lead projects simultaneously and deliver deliverables on budget and on schedule
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, and influencing ability to maintain and grow productive relationships with franchisees
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication, to include formal presentations and the ability to prepare and present to franchisees on a regular basis and senior leadership on a bi-weekly basis
  • Must have the ability to interface and maintain excellent professional relationships with a variety of audiences to include franchise partners, ad agencies, local marketing vendors, internal corporate functions, and senior leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. Knowledge of Tableau, PowerBI an asset.
