Managing Director Job Description

A private, family-owned reserve seeks an experienced Managing Director to oversee our 750+ acre resort and wildlife refuge. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in resort management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple departments effectively. This role demands a strategic, entrepreneurial thinker who can drive operational excellence, ensure guest satisfaction, and enhance the property's overall performance. The Managing Director will work closely with the Owners to carry out their vision and play a crucial role in construction, land development, and hospitality as the property develops.

Managing Director Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and Management:
• Lead all resort departments and develop policies for top service and efficiency.
• Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Operational Oversight:
• Align daily operations with the mission of harmony with nature.
• Manage land and water resources; maintain facilities and landscapes.
• Business and Land Development:
• Strategize business development with the owner.
• Lead land development projects and enhance resort offerings.
• Financial Management:
• Manage the annual budget and monitor financial performance.
• Oversee purchasing and inventory for efficiency.
• Guest Services and Satisfaction:
• Ensure high guest satisfaction and address issues promptly.
• Collaborate with marketing to attract guests.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure compliance with regulations and implement safety protocols.
  

Managing Director Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• 8-10 years of experience in resort or hotel management, with at least 5 years in a senior/executive leadership role.
• Experience in business, building, and land development is REQUIRED.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to management.
  
  

Managing Director Compensation

• Tremendous base salary
• Bonus structure - discretionary by Owners (intends to be generous!)
• Medical benefits TBD

• On Property Housing available for Leadership roles - to be discussed during the interview process.
