Under direct supervision of Director, Manager, or Clinical Supervisor on duty, performs a variety of duties and services involving cardiac arrhythmia surveillance of patients. Observes data generated from central cardiac monitors.
Not responsible for hands on patient care. Performs monitor surveillance and clerical duties only.
Education
High school diploma
Successful completion of MNHS course in dysrhythmia recognition
Previous coursework in electrocardiogram (ECG) preferred
Experience
Six months of cardiac monitor experience or successful completion of training program.
One year of EKG monitor reading experience in acute care setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, customer service, oral communication, problem solving, results orientation, teamwork, and written communication.
Ability to train and give and receive instructions
Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness.
Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills desirable.
Proficiency in spelling and accurate attention to details.
Maintains composure in dealing with a variety of personalities and a sometimes high pressure environment.
Relates to staff, physicians, patients/family, visitors, outside agency personnel.
