Summary
The Registration Specialist schedules patients in EMR, verifies insurance coverage electronically, collects office co-pays and PATOS, gathers appropriate data on new patients, answers the telephones, utilizes the computer for patient registration. This individual is also responsible for opening and distributing mail, scans all outside correspondence into EMR, checks work queues daily for accuracy with registration and failed sending of faxes (then has to be manually done), assists with correspondence and fills our insurance/disability forms, and sends requested records to appropriate agency.

- Answers the telephone, handles the calls, takes messages, or relays the call to appropriate individuals.
- Assists with physicians' written correspondence as needed.
- Checks EMR for failed f axe s and manually f a xes to appropriate agency.
- Collects appropriate office co-pays after checking passport for copays owed, and then posts patient payments to G-4 physician billing system.
- Completes patient scheduling for office visits and diagnostic tests.
- Coordinates information for patient referrals.
- Copies charts for insurance, disability and second opinions at other facilities.
- Fills out insurance/disability forms.
- Inputs patient registration into Affinity system and making sure all information is accurate.
- Obtains appropriate data on all new patients.
- Opens and distributes mail.
- Scanning of consents to Hospital EMR; scanning of all outside documents into department EMR.
- Utilizes the computer system appropriately and accurately.
- Verifies insurance coverage.
