The Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist in Charge oversees the operations of the pharmacy. The responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations, compounding and dispensing prescribed medications and providing supervision to the professional and support staff.
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for strategic planning, design, operation, and improvement of pharmacy input and dispensing in conjunction with pharmacy operations
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and processes to promote safe, efficient, and cost-effective medication dispensing, storage, and medication use
Ensure quality of patient care and increase revenue through the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that comply with regulatory agencies
Adheres to HIPAA regulations, Code of Conduct and Employee Standards
Create reports and develop KPIs including compliance metrics and root cause analysis
Act as an active member of Pharmacy Compliance Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
Work closely with Care Coordination team to provide high level of service ensuring great customer service
Manage dispensing and input departments including all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and pharmacy intern students
Ensure safe and efficient workflow for pharmacy dispensing
Monitor and audit all controlled substances and all dispensing and input activities
Helps determine staffing needs and actively participates in new hire interview and selection processes
Ensure all pharmacy staff is licensed and has completed mandatory continuing education
Ensure proper coverage through the creation of staff schedules
communicate expectations with pharmacy staff and conduct routine evaluations
Maintain pharmacy expenses within budget requirements
Complete continuing education as required by Tennessee Department of Health
Complete in-services and attend meetings as required
Ensure all work-related information and materials remain confidential
Maintain proficiency with computer systems
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent from a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education
Active TN Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist Licenses. Willingness to become licensed in other states as needed.
Long-term care pharmacy experience preferred
5+ years of management experience
Skills and Requirements:
Strong knowledge of the pharmacy industry, Medicaid, CMS, and state/federal regulations
Experience with Framework ECM Software System, Framework LTC Software System and
TCGRX/Parata automatic dispensing machine
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Microsoft Excel
Strong organizational and planning skills
Effective communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities
Ability to be accurate and thorough
Commitment to continually strive to improve quality standards
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, kneel, push and pull
