The MSRH Pharmacy Manager provides managerial support to the Director of Pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department Leadership through day to day departmental leadership and coordination of pharmacy workflow. The Manager will coordinate and supervise the daily activities of Pharmacy staff, delegating assignments as necessary in accordance with established policies and procedures and to maintain department productivity. They will also be responsible for designing, implementing and managing clinical pharmacy services, promoting clinically and evidence-based rational drug therapy, and sound pharmaceutical care through the development of new (or expansion of existing) pharmacy practice programs, drug therapy policies, and other programs.
Responsibilities
Manages and coordinates the pharmacy services and personnel in accordance with all federal and state laws related to the storage, compounding and distribution of pharmaceutical drugs.
Identify and address patient and provider concerns in a proactive and timely manner, and complete appropriate follow-up as necessary
Ensure all employees of the Pharmacy Department maintain up-to-date licensure and education as required by State and Federal Law and report any deficiencies to the Pharmacy Director.
Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities.
Provides regular performance feedback.
Develops subordinates' skills and encourages training and development.
Builds commitment and overcomes resistance.
Develops and maintains written policies and procedures for clinical pharmacy services in keeping with state, federal and University rules and regulations.
Implements decisions of and provides support for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee by preparing drug evaluations and assisting in formulary maintenance
Aligns and maintains effective processes and workflows.
Develops the budget and ensures department operates within budget and in accordance with performance standards.
Address pharmacy related incident reports, complete root cause analysis, provide staff training & re-education, and collaborate with leadership team to implement operational changes promoting safety.
Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff.
Knowledge of computer and technology systems and software including pharmacy information systems.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to foster the creation and maintenance of a collaborative environment.
Ability to monitor transition events and evaluate results
Education
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of Pharmacy is required
Experience
5 years of experience working in a pharmacy
3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity
License And Certification
Registered Pharmacist. Current Texas state license to practice pharmacy
