Postdoctoral Researcher

The Genome Evolution and Bioinformatics Laboratory at Howard University is seeking Postdoctoral Associates to join our team for groundbreaking research in genomics.

The field of genomics has seen the development of numerous assays designed to profile the molecular activities of our genome. These vast datasets offer an unprecedented opportunity to delve into the intricate regulatory systems that have evolved within our genome. Our research involves formulating hypotheses rooted in evolutionary theories and rigorously testing them using genomic and phenotypic data. Given that genomic data often harbor substantial noise and bias, we also develop novel computational tools that integrate diverse sources of information to mitigate these limitations. As a member of our research team, you may work on three primary research directions:

1. Developing Deep Learning Models: Predicting the molecular and phenotypic impacts of genetic variants in personal genomes.

2. Investigating Gene Expression Robustness: Studying the robustness of gene expression against genetic and environmental perturbations and its evolutionary aspects.

3. Integrating Genomic and Health Data: Improving precision medicine and addressing health disparities by combining genomic data with electronic health records.

Additionally, you will have the freedom to explore and test your ideas, providing biological insights using computational approaches.
