Postdoctoral Researcher in AD and FTD Research

The Molecular Pathology Unit (MPU) at Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (CARD) is seeking a dedicated, innovative, and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to pioneer spatial and single-cell omics techniques in conjunction with iPSC-derived organoid culture. Our research is centered on exploring the intricacies of neuronal vulnerability and the toxicity of non-neuronal cells in TDP-43 proteinopathies, which encompass Alzheimer's disease and Frontotemporal Dementia. At the core of our investigations lie human postmortem brain samples and brain organoids, aimed at achieving a profound understanding of the dynamic interplay among various cell types and the influence of genetic and environmental factors on the progression of these debilitating diseases.

Role

The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with other labs within and outside the NIH as well as with the CARD expert groups including the Single cell sequencing, Automated Cell culture and Advanced analytics expert groups.

Candidate Qualifications

We invite applications from individuals with expertise in neurobiology, neuropathology, cell biology, and molecular biology. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD or MD/PhD and preferentially previous experience with human samples, iPSCs culture and/or bioinformatics.
