Principal Consultant Urban Forest Planning, DRG Western Region (California preferred. Secondary Nevada, Washington, Oregon)
Objectives
Provide direct project management and support for urban forestry planning projects (80%).
Support sales and project development (10%).
Drive urban forestry planning market growth (10%).
Job Duties
Manage urban forest planning projects independently or with minimal supervision, including management plans, master plans, operations review, resource analysis, and ordinance review.
Oversee multiple concurrent projects, including scheduling, technical report and plan writing, administrative tasks, mentoring, safety training, and client communication.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement activities such as presentations, surveys, data collection, and plan preparation to meet project objectives.
Lead meetings with municipal officials, community organizations, and government agencies to support project goals.
Coordinate with UF Project Managers and remote DRG staff for project support and tool development.
Assist in project development and marketing efforts, including proposals, budgeting, and client interactions.
Participate in regional and national marketing strategies, conferences, and public speaking engagements.
Build thought leadership in urban forestry planning and related areas.
Travel as necessary to fulfill project and marketing requirements.
Maintain compliance with safety training and industry credentials.
Year 1 Success Metrics
Measure project performance based on profitability, deliverable quality, and client satisfaction.
Achieve a utilization rate of 80% or higher.
Review performance annually for potential expanded responsibilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
ISA Certified Arborist required; Municipal Specialist and Board Certified Master Arborist preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Minimum two years of leadership experience in urban forestry management or planning.
