Product Development Specialist

JOB TITLE: Product Development Specialist

TEMPORARY/PERM: Permanent

LOCATION: NYC Office

START DATE: ASAP

REPORTS TO: Director, Product Development

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Manage all phases of formula development, new product innovation and shade matching for color products

• Drive daily communication with external partners to manage development and testing, including on-site approvals

• Own, monitor and maintain on-time delivery of critical project milestones

• Help coordinate with Project Management/Sourcing in order to update and track PD function of timelines

• Help manage product launch calendar for assigned categories

• Coordinate with manufacturers to set standards on all new products (first production batch approvals, pre-production samples)

• Participate in brainstorms and concept ideation

• Create Product Profiles for each product launch and help strategize and work with cross-functional teams

• Successfully work with Regulatory on ingredient compliancy and testing protocols

• Coordinate all clinical and consumer testing protocols to include protocols, usage instructions, questionnaires and samples

• Closely review artwork proofs to ensure all PD info is correct (IL, COO, PAO, claim weight, product claims)

• Build and successfully maintain effective and strong relationships with contract manufacturers and 3rd party suppliers

• Create Product Development briefs and submit to manufacturers and make sure all details are communicated clearly and effectively

• Attend meetings with manufacturers to review new formula innovations, trends and technologies

• Work closely with QA on setting range boards and ensuring all formula quality standards are met

• Gather all required product needed for Sales meetings and presentations

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have at least 1-2 years product development experience, specifically in skincare cosmetics

• Solid knowledge and demonstrated experience of the product development lifecycle

• Must be organized, work efficiently and detail oriented

• Can multitask and can work in a fast-paced environment

• Comfortable to work alone and on a team

• Has an interest/passion for all things beauty!
