Position Description

The Nano-bio and Immunoengineering Consortium (NIEC) at the University of Mississippi (inbslab.olemiss.edu) invites applications for a Research and Development Biologist. The proposed work will involve maintaining the newly-founded Biomolecular Instrumentation Core, performing hands-on research in molecular biology, and interfacing with researchers around the state to offer state-of-the-art research capabilities.

Candidate Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have a B.S. in Cell and Development Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. The candidate should have experience in molecular biology, immunology, and optical imaging. Experimental techniques such as PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, 3D cell co-cultures, transwell migration, tumor xenograft implantation, in vivo drug administration, tissue harvesting, and post-mortem molecular analysis will be used regularly.

Required Tasks Of The Job

  • Perform biomolecular lab analysis
  • Perform a variety of in vitro 3D co-culture experiments
  • Use organizational skills and multitasking to accomplish multifaceted goals
  • Maintain instrumentation vital to the research project
