Avita Medical is a regenerative medicine company leading the development and commercialization of devices and autologous cellular therapies for skin restoration. Our FDA-approved RECELL System technology platform treats patients with thermal burn wounds and full-thickness skin defects and is used for re-pigmentation of stable depigmented vitiligo lesions by harnessing the regenerative properties of a patients’ own skin to create Spray-On Skim cells.

Position Summary

The role will be responsible for implementing and managing field-based reimbursement and health economics activities for AVITA Medical’s portfolio. This position will support AVITA’s sales teams and customers serving as an expert on all matters related to coverage, reimbursement, coding, and health economics for AVITA’s products in the U.S. market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource for the sales team and customers on coverage, reimbursement, coding, and health economics for AVITA’s products.
  • Provide reimbursement and health economic support and training to AVITA sales force and key external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, investigator sites, professional societies) as appropriate.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders on health economics and reimbursement topics.
  • Build relationships with customers to foster reimbursement success and cultivate advocates who will assist AVITA Medical in engagements with payer organizations.
  • Build relationships with government, physician, hospital, and third-party payer decisionmakers.
  • Track payer and provider trends by geography; integrate insights and feedback into AVITA’s business planning processes.
  • Develop and manage centralized tools, such as coding guides and other reimbursement and health economic materials, to aid the company in delivering uniform reimbursement and policy communications.
  • Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Travel: Up to 60%
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer policies.
  • Knowledgeable in outpatient and inpatient coding (APC, MS-DRG, ICD-10), physician coding (CPT, HCPCS), Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of reimbursement across all sites of service including physician office reimbursement, hospital outpatient, inpatient facility, and ambulatory surgical centers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and translate complex economic and reimbursement concepts into understandable and actionable information to AVITA Medical's team, leaders, and customers.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with customer groups and clinical staff.
  • Ability to support fast paced sales force including sales leadership.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and agility, adept at executing effective reimbursement strategies and navigating healthcare market complexities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Salesforce, Excel, Power Point, and Word applications.
  • Requires at least 7-10 years of proven success in reimbursement and health economics.
  • Must have prior experience in a medical device company, preferably with involvement in emerging medical device technologies.
  • BA or BS required, a major in business or a healthcare related field preferred.
