Study the genes involved in plant resistance and fungal pathogenicity that are functional at specific growth and infection stages of Sclerotinia sclerotium. This position offers an exciting opportunity involving molecular genetics and biochemical analysis of pathogen infection process and defense responses in Arabidopsis and Canola plants in the Chen lab and the Tanaka lab. Experience in molecular plant pathology is an advantage but not required. It is more important that you are highly-motivated and ready to develop the research project.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree and five (5) years of experience in a related field in plant pathology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline along with hands-on experience in plant molecular genetics, genomics, and biochemistry at the time of hire.
Applicants should have excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to successfully contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
A solid track record of academic and research achievement with a strong and apparent background in molecular genetics and biochemistry.
Documented experience with gene knockout and complementation is preferred.
Substantial experience with transcriptomics and bioinformatics would be preferable.
Experience with Sclerotinia biology would be helpful, but not essential.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
