CAMP4 Therapeutics

Research Associate II - Neuroscience

CAMP4 Therapeutics Cambridge, MA

Join the Adventure!

CAMP4 Therapeutics is leveraging a proprietary drug discovery platform to discover antisense oligonucleotides targeting regulatory RNAs to treat a broad range of metabolic and CNS diseases. We are seeking a passionate Research Associate to join a Discovery team responsible for driving a pipeline of programs from target identification through IND in metabolic and central nervous system diseases. You will work closely with the CAMP4 Platform, Chemistry, and Data Science teams to discover and validate novel therapeutic targets, as well as contribute to drug discovery programs across multiple neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative indications. A key responsibility for this role will be to support our efforts using patient iPSC-derived neurons to validate targets and screen candidate ASOs. A successful candidate will apply their experience in human iPSC maintenance and neuronal differentiation along with assay development to characterize the effects of candidate ASOs on target engagement and phenotypic rescue. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, team-oriented, and collaborative individual with outstanding organizational and communication skills. Title commensurate with experience.

What you will do:

  • Help develop robust differentiation, and scalable platforms to generate various types of functional neurons and glial cells from human iPSCs.
  • Establish cellular and biochemical assays for target validation and screening assays.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of novel in vitro / ex vivo functional assays.
  • Support in vivo work with animal models, process in vivo tissue samples for downstream analysis.
  • Provide conceptual input into experimental design, data analysis and communication of results to the broader scientific teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental design and results.
  • Support daily laboratory operation and maintenance including preparing and ordering necessary reagents and supplies, equipment maintenance and other periodic lab activities.

Who you are:

  • BS or MS degree in neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology or a similar discipline with 2+ years of industry or academic research experience.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques including RNA isolation, QPCR, western blots, immunofluorescence staining and microscopy, and ELISA.
  • Expertise in cell culture experimental skills, preferably including experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation.
  • Preferred experience in flow cytometry, from panel design to data acquisition and analysis
  • Team-oriented, highly motivated with a strong work ethic, ability to work productively in a fast-paced collaborative environment that requires a high level of organization and communication.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills.

About CAMP4

CAMP4 is developing disease-modifying treatments for a broad range of genetic diseases where amplifying healthy protein may offer therapeutic benefits. Our approach amplifies mRNA by harnessing a fundamental mechanism of how genes are controlled. To amplify mRNA, our therapeutic ASO drug candidates target regulatory RNAs (regRNAs), which act locally on transcription factors and are the master regulators of gene expression. CAMP4’s proprietary RAP Platform enables the mapping of regRNAs and design of optimal chemistry to generate potent therapeutic candidates to address hundreds of genetic diseases across multiple tissues.
