Job Summary:

The Department of Orthopedics is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Science Professional to join a multidisciplinary team whose research focuses on musculoskeletal regenerative medicine. The key activities for this position include isolation and expansion of primary musculoskeletal cells, as well as work with translational animal models to test regenerative therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical laboratory work related to cellular biology including cell culture, differentiation assays, biochemical analysis, and quantitative PCR.
  • Animal handling and dissecting musculoskeletal tissues.
  • Processing and sectioning paraffin embedded tissues.
  • Record and compile accurate records, laboratory protocols, and communicate summaries of experimental results including organizing and maintaining research data, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Assisting with general lab tasks and lab maintenance.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or related field.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
  • Experience with cell/tissue culture.
  • Experience with histology including sectioning paraffin embedded tissues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic to proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Willingness to work with animals
  • Willingness to learn research protocols.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

Entry: $45,000 - $57,240

Intermediate: $48,970 - $62,290

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
