Position Description:

The UofL School of Dentistry is seeking a Research Technician I for Oral Immunology and Infectious Diseases. This position involves conducting molecular and cellular biology experiments focused on understanding the pathogenesis of oral pathogens, particularly Porphyromonas gingivalis. Essential skills include proficiency in microbiology techniques, genetic engineering, and transcriptomics. Familiarity with statistical analysis and fundamental concepts in microbiology/immunology is beneficial. Responsibilities encompass proper data handling and presentation, supporting lab maintenance, and other relevant duties as needed. Additionally, the position involves devising and validating experimental designs, sampling methods, and analytical techniques, and offering recommendations for their implementation. Training fellow lab members in experimental procedures is also part of the role. This project is housed within the Oral Immunology and Infectious Diseases research group at the School of Dentistry.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in the fields of microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other lab members on research initiatives.
  • Organize data collection pertinent to the research projects.
  • Document data connected to the research projects and report findings to the PI.
  • Review research-related journals for findings relevant to the project.
  • Present research outcomes during lab or departmental meetings
  • Train dental and graduated students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microorganisms
  • Knowledge of genetic background, mutations of genes
  • Knowledge of host-pathogen interactions

Compensation Will Be Commensurate To Candidate Experience.
