Summary:

Under the direction of the Regional Patient Access Call Center Manager, the Scheduling Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate appointment scheduling with expertise in scheduling protocols, registration, insurance requirements/verification, identification of accurate patient responsibility with notification to the patient for the Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Region which includes Mercy Fitzgerald, Nazareth Hospital, St. Francis Wilmington and St. Mary Medical Center Langhorne.

The Scheduling Specialist is responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility and accurately identifying patient financial responsibility. Position handles complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing, associated studies and those with study specific instructions. This is a key position that will begin the overall patient experience and initiates the billing process for any services provided by the hospital.

Mercy Fitzgerald, a member of Trinity Health, is looking for a Nurse Manager to join our Together Team Virtual Nursing Team and Float Pool

Job Duties:

  • The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing twenty-four-hour accountability, long term planning in addition to human and fiscal responses for the Virtual Nursing Hub and Float Pool.
  • Operationalizes the organization’s mission, philosophy and values. Integrates mission and values into hiring decisions and talent management. Role models values and coaches colleagues to live our values with every interaction.
  • Works with system and regional senior leadership teams to identify program goals. Collaborates with clinical leaders across regional health ministries to identify opportunities for improvement and contributes to identification of the root cause of issues when they occur.
  • Able to lead process improvement projects and empowers colleagues to participate and to contribute to improving workflow, processes and outcomes. Ensures staff knowledge and participation in quality improvement activities, including but not limited to The Joint Commission’s core measure projects, National Patient Safety Goals initiatives, and NDNQI goals, evidenced-based projects and research activities (as appropriate).
  • Works with the Trinity Health System to evaluate policies related to the virtual monitoring program. Utilizes the patient safety communication principles and fosters a just culture.
  • Ensures qualified staff to meet patient/family care needs. Responsible for recruiting, interviewing and selecting staff in collaboration with Human Resources, staff and the multidisciplinary team as appropriate. Observes colleagues at work and recognizes colleagues for outstanding work and coaches for improvement related to living our values/behavior, process improvement, communication and technical skill. Documents performance coaching on an ongoing basis and performs annual performance management. Maintains knowledge of attendance and performance management policies and implements them within the department. Collaborates with leaders outside of the department to seek feedback on colleagues' performance.
  • Works with colleagues to ensure colleague engagement and develops improvement plans as indicated based on colleague feedback and engagement survey results. Evaluates retention rate and creates action plans to respond to concerning trends.
  • Engages in and demonstrates self-development in clinical, professional, and managerial areas. Identifies professional learning needs. Sets specific goals to meet these needs. Collaborates with supervisor members to meet these needs.
  • Develops and evaluates workflow to ensure the effective and safe patient care. Collaborates with nursing departments to evaluate effectiveness of workflow and evaluation of outcomes. Develops and implements a staffing plan that meets the needs of patients and the nursing care team. Collaborates with IT to maintain reliable services to clinical departments.
  • Develops and communicates department goals to all colleagues and partners across the Trinity Health System. Cultivates relationships with all regional health ministries served by the virtual monitoring hub. Creates and maintains a staffing model that serves the needs of patients across the hub.

Requirements:

  • Work minimally requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in nursing; Master's in Nursing Administration/Health System leadership preferred.
  • Current registered nurse license in good standing from the state of PA.
  • Three (3) years of previous floor nursing experience and two (2) years of managerial experience required. Previous experience in virtual monitoring setting preferred. Experience with adult general medicine patients with a variety of acute or chronic medical conditions, and patients from procedural areas including cath lab is preferred.
  • Requires skills in Virtual Monitoring Software, Microsoft suite (e.g. Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.). Experience in EPIC, Kronos, Net Learning Win PFS preferred.
