Job title and reporting: The job title is Senior Director of Engineering and the role reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
Job purpose and scope: The job purpose is to oversee and guide all engineering activities within the organization, especially the development of Simple and Complex Hardware projects. The role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
Responsibilities and duties: The responsibilities and duties include providing strategic direction and leadership to the engineering department, overseeing the delegation and execution of project tasks, coordinating system requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, and delivery of hardware products, leading and mentoring a diverse team of engineers, developing comprehensive scopes of engineering work, monitoring and reporting on project progress, overseeing the generation of product design and certification documentation, assessing and fulfilling technical skill and resource requirements, supporting marketing, sales, and customer service initiatives, and managing and improving the quality management system.
Knowledge and skill requirements: The knowledge and skill requirements include a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering management, extensive knowledge of product development in compliance with RTCA/DO-254, DO-160, and other applicable civil aviation and industry standards, demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment, experience in coordinating with FAA & Foreign CAA for certification compliance, familiarity with Phase Development processes and AS9100 compliance, exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills, and willingness to travel and provide on-site support as needed.
