Summary

The Procurement Sr. Manager is responsible for ownership of developing procurement strategies and managing the purchase of goods and services for the international freight forwarding and all business departments at GLOVIS America. Plan, delegate and evaluate progress with management projects and negotiate effectively to meet company objectives and budget goals. Duties include but not limited to; facilitating and developing cross-functional Vendor Management process, negotiation opportunities, and deliver continuous improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Primary
    • Participate in final selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors, to promote good procurement practice with due regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards and costing
    • Set and plan how to achieve supplier accreditation and service level management
    • Manage current supply base and develop/mature future supply base to support in International freight fowarding & all domestics transportation mode with its needs.
    • Plan, delegate, and evaluate projects and negotiate effectively to meet company objectives and budget goals.
    • Develop and implement strategies for procuring and distributing of goods or services.
    • Responsbile for negotiation with vendors/suppliers to secure advantageous terms, finalize contract terms, budget forecast, and cost. Identify areas to reduce cost and opportunities to achieve financial goals and business' budget.
    • Manage projects related to cost optimization and goal to optimize margins for volume discounts, competitive pressure.
  • Secondary
    • Conduct research on potential suppliers, market trends, and secure high-quality and cost efficient purchases.
    • Ensure alignment between strategic procurement initiatives for all GUS operations team and identify areas of improvements to continually drive performance and business results.
    • Reconcile or resolve order discrepancies with goods and services.
    • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
    • Manage favorable cost/pricing terms and ensure compliance with Legal and policies, ethics, and goals in engagement of vendors
    • Responsible for maximizing the use of all the different tools in the ERP system to analyze trends to maintain a stead flow of the supply chain
    • Responsible for negotiating vendor contracts and understand price points and be able to negotiate effectively and create constructive relationships with vendors.
  • Tertiary
    • Provide controls, oversight, and audit functions over supplier performance
    • Liaise with the leadership with current supply base needs, provide initial escalation point for contractual issues with supply base
    • Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business
    • Oversee and supervise employees and all activities of the purchasing staffs with employee development.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Compensation Range

$110,000 - $125,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Qualifications

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, procurement, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and drive actions with cross-functional groups
  • Proficient PC skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database management systems
  • Working knowledge of industry and market conditions
  • Experience in operations, including Freight Forwarding, domestic transportation, and bid preparation
  • Working knowledge of contract management practices, tracking and managing data, contracts, and timelines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adjust to meet business needs
  • Individual must be a self-starter with ability to work with limited direction

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 10 Years of Experience Required
  • 10-15 Years of Experience Preferred
  • 4-7 Years of Supervisory Experience Required
