O ur team is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive product development activities and mechanical design best practices. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in the oceanside community of Torrance, CA. One of the best places to live in California with ocean beaches, plenty of parks and endless sunny days.
Responsibilities
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will:
Design new antenna products and components, and then develop your concepts into CREO models and mechanical drawings to capture design details
Champion continuous improvement in our product designs and in our mechanical engineering practices, identifying and implementing improvements
Serve as project manager for cross-functional product development teams and meet customer deliverable requirements
Support new business development through evaluating proposed mechanical requirements, generating compliance matrices, and generating technical responses to requests for proposal (RFPs)
Support sales, product management, and operations by addressing customer questions, completing feasibility studies, supporting customer calls, and troubleshooting issues
Conduct root cause analysis investigations for product mechanical issues, and then recommend, implement, and document corrective actions
Document product design and manufacturing process changes through Engineering Change Orders
Incorporate design for manufacturing principles into product designs
Lead environmental test planning, execution, and documentation efforts against environmental requirements such as RTCA/DO-160G and MIL-STD-810G
Collaborate with our parent company’s mechanical engineering team to implement common engineering processes and best practices
Qualifications
Must-Have:
Minimum 8 years relevant work experience. Level of position commensurate with experience and expertise
Experience with CREO (Pro/Engineer) mechanical design
Experience designing products for the aerospace and/or defense industries
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and stackup analysis
Knowledge of robustness standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160)

Nice-to-Have:
Experience designing products for the aerospace, defense, and/or marine industries
Experience with FAA certification process
Experience with thermal and/or structural analysis tools
Experience designing molded parts
Familiarity with AutoCAD to modify legacy drawings
Experience leading product development project teams

Compensation & Benefits
Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division provides the following compensation range and a general description of other compensation and benefits. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. The Company reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range or offer other compensation depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state or federal law. Our benefits and bonus plans are reviewed annually and are subject to change at the company’s discretion.
Hiring Salary Range: : $122,600 - $196,100 per annum
Bonus Eligibility: We offer a company profit share and individual incentive-based bonus programs.
