SOCOTEC’s Specialty Engineering Group provides advanced engineering support for our Engineering, Testing, Inspection and Certification (ETIC) and Dispute Resolution endeavors. Our expertise in problem solving is built on the deep knowledge of our staff in a wide range of engineering and scientific disciplines. Job Description

This position will report to a Principal or designee level staff member within our Specialty Engineering division. The position will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to:

• Forensic investigations of electrical and mechanical equipment failures
• Analysis of fluid systems
• Flow visualization and thermo-hydraulic modelling
• Vibration analysis
• Structural qualification of mechanical equipment and systems
• Design and deployment of field and laboratory equipment
• Advanced analysis of equipment, systems and structures using finite element codes
• Materials engineering and evaluations
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related engineering field
• 5 to 10 years’ experience with knowledge and experience in electrical and mechanical power plant systems, components and materials, or advanced engineering degree.
• Knowledge of fluid dynamic analysis and thermohydraulics
• Knowledge of ASME B&PV, AWS and related codes
• Knowledge of, and experience using CFD codes (ANSYS CFX, FLOTRAN, ALGOR)
• Experience using measurement devices
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to pass background and drug screenings to obtain security clearances at commercial nuclear plants and Dept. of Energy facilities (U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required for clearances).
• Ability to travel to customer or project sites (moderate travel required)
