Overview

The Position

Allison’s Earned Media Center of Excellence is an agency resource with a focus on earned media relations and media strategy. Team members bring outside thinking and tenured media experience to help clients overcome market and media challenges to achieve success. The Earned Media Center of Excellence operates across practice groups to provide industry insights to account teams and clients as well as media strategy and pitching support.

As a Senior Media Specialist or as a Media Relations Manager, the team member is beginning to think more strategically about the media landscape and how its impacting clients across the agency. In this role the team member should begin to think about a chosen practice area on which to focus and will be responsible for working with their management team or manager to hone their media craft in this industry or vertical to continue to foster and build long last media relationships and begin to offer specific media strategy and counsel to teams and clients.

In this role, the Media Relations Manager has more experience with the actual operations of an account, client needs, media landscape and anticipated challenges given the media landscape or specific vertical. Similarly, account teams and clients should begin to view this team member as someone that can offer strategy and offer media counsel internally and externally.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Actively participates in the department, leading discussions and developing content, assisting with learning and development sessions and being a steward of the program
  • Attends weekly team calls, helps address and set team priorities
  • Works with account leads to help shape earned media strategy and direction
  • Conducts proactive and reactive outreach on behalf of clients across the agency
  • Tracks media and industry trends as well as changes to the media landscape and shares broadly with the agency
  • Participates in new business, drafting content and assisting with responses and plays an active role in presentations.
  • Holds media discovery calls on behalf of the agency and key priority clients
  • Provides strategic media counsel and feedback to teams as a result of media outreach and efforts
  • Assists with developing and guiding media strategy and feedback on-going client programs
  • Offer feedback and edits to media materials including but not limited to pitches, media strategy and media lists
  • Participate in creative team brainstorms to offer media insights and strategy when teams seek assistance and input outside their core team
  • Participates in client calls offering insight and counsel as called upon
  • Assists junior staff with pitch writing, feedback and general mentorship with regards to proactive pitching and best practices
  • Communicates regularly with teams providing and tracking media feedback to ensure we’re measuring success
  • Responsible for individual time and time management as it relates to client budgets and allocated time
  • Promote and uphold Allison’s core values; participate in agency-wide training and professional development programs.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Media Specialist and Media Relations Managers at Allison typically have a minimum of 3+ years of experience.
  • Candidate must have very strong relationships with consumer media, especially national morning shows.
  • Prior experience c ounseling clients and developing strategic plans.
  • Preferred experience managing and mentoring an employee.
  • Solution-oriented and creative-minded in delivering results.
  • Strong writer and editor.
  • Proficiency in using media monitoring and data analytics tools like Muckrack, Critical Mention, Meltwater and Cision.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, alongside Zoom and Microsoft Teams .

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation in all locations within the United States for this role is $63k-$108k. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
