Job Title: Sr. Network Agent
Location: St Louis, MO Must Be Onsite
Contract Duration: 6 months + x
The successful candidate will specialize in troubleshooting technical problems and implementing solutions for customers with a specific focus on Networking technologies. The Network Engineer will assist with areas such as VPNs, cross datacenter connectivity, encryption, routing protocols such as BGP, and layer2/layer3 issues. You should expect to provide 24/7 support for production customer workloads.
Responsibilities
Implement networking solutions to support Google Distributed Cloud - Hosted in a partner managed environment
Manage networking issues through effective diagnosis to resolution
Develop an in-depth understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer-reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensures 24-hour customer support.
This will include a need to sometimes work non-standard work hours or shifts.
Qualifications
Background in in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Routing, VPNs, VLANs, Peering, Load Balancing, etc)
Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working directly in a customer-facing role
Deep understanding of network services and protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and others
Experience with tools such as packet sniffers, network probes, command line debugging, site survey tools and spectrum analyzer software
Prior experience with implementation of large scale network within a data center is highly desirable
Industry accredited certification (CCIE, JNCIE, etc.) is desirable
Hands-on experience with Cisco, NetApp and HP switches & routers is a plus
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
