SENIOR PRODUCT OWNER

At ACI Worldwide, the Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of assigned product initiatives and enhancing the work of the Development team. This is a fully remote position for an individual with strong product management fundamentals and structure who possesses excellent collaboration and prioritization skills in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.

Job Summary:

• Communicates the vision of the Product Manager to their scrum team and is responsible for prioritizing the product backlog to accomplish that vision, including adding/removing/grooming items, and defining their priorities.
• Participates in all Agile activities including backlog grooming, sprint planning and sprint review.
• Works with the team to groom backlog items: defining acceptance criteria, helping the team split and estimate stories.
• Chooses the right balance between feature development and technical (NFR) work to keep the product competitive.
• Available as needed to assist the scrum team with product questions and has the authority to make decisions about product features.
  
  

Job Responsibilities:

• Communicating the product vision and sharing product expertise with the agile team/s.
• Setting priorities effectively, i.e., prioritizing the backlog and ensuring that the team understands why the stories are in a specific order to maximize the team’s output.
• Elaborating/publishing user story requirements in a timely fashion.
• Clarifying user story requirements/answering team questions quickly and concisely.
• Creating clear, testable acceptance criteria for stories.
• Participating in scrum team meetings (grooming, planning, review, etc.).
• Driving the agile team/s to break stories down into smaller stories that comfortably fit in a sprint and have business value.
• Actively collaborating with agile team/s to identify ways to increase velocity.
• Engaging internal stakeholders and external contacts as needed to provide direction to the team independently of the Product Manager/ Principal Product Owner.
• Drives maximizing the business value and quality output of the agile teams.
• Providing guidance to other Product Owners while providing training. Acting as a mentor to junior Product Owners.
• Taking on product management activities as needed and performing other duties as assigned.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required:

• Bachelor’s degree in in related field or equivalent experience in software development tasks.
• 5 to 8+ years of related work experience.
• Ideal industry experience includes bill payment software, electronic payments, or Fintech solutions.

• Strong ability to understand technical issues at a high level.
• Demonstrates a track record of accountability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:

• Standard work environment.
• Majority of time spent on PC (Phys. Req.)
• Travel required, may be domestic or international.
