Job Profile

The Supervisor of Operations is responsible for supporting company sales goals by supervising all personnel and processes associated with our Salt Lake City, UT Warehouse operations. Success in this role will be achieved by keeping the UT Warehouse team highly motivated, productive, efficient, and safe.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety
    • The first aspect of this supervisory role is to ensure that our associates are safe and secure, every day, in every aspect of their jobs and that the site is OSHA compliant. This includes but is not limited to: abiding by guidelines and regulations (i.e. speed limit, laws regarding distracted driving, etc.), keeping the warehouse and yard neat to minimize risk of accident or injury, responding promptly to safety concerns, immediately reporting any accident or injury to HR, promoting the use of personal protective equipment, quickly remove defective/malfunctioning equipment from use/service, and utilizing the best tool for the task at hand.
    • Participate in company-wide safety committee and conduct monthly safety audits of the facility
    • Ensure that daily forklift inspections are completed in our automated inspection app


  • Coaching & Leading
    • Ensure that members of your team are consistently operating at maximum capacity, safely, and are motivated to be the best that they can be.
    • Ensure recurring, steady communications with your team as this will be crucial to understanding priorities, projects, issues, morale, etc. including regularly scheduled 1-on-1 meetings.
    • Ensure that all team members comply with all policies and procedures. Play an integral role in implementing and monitoring policies and procedures.
    • Periodic headquarter site visits (estimated 2-3 trips/yr) to observe, learn, and participate in hands-on-training. Disseminate knowledge and incorporate best practices at the Salt Lake City site.
  • Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Operations
    • Team Supervision- Supervise members of the UT Warehouse shipping and receiving team with regard to the efficiency and quality of work.
    • Order Fulfillment - Ensure that Customer orders are fulfilled in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.
    • Receiving Product - Coordinate receipt of products into inventory, including updating quantities in the computer system.
    • Quality Control - Track order accuracy over time to identify patterns or training issues. Ensure that the on-site Warehouse team processes QC checks for each order. Ensure that processes and paperwork are consistent and accurate for both receiving product and fulfilling Customer orders.


  • Facilities, Equipment and Physical Inventory
    • Spearheads most facilities projects and ensures all areas are utilized to their fullest potential (i.e. yard clean-up requiring dumpster).
    • Ensure that all common grounds (warehouse, yard, parking lot) are consistently clear of debris and in good condition
    • Manage the storage and organization of our products in our warehouse and yard. All items should be well organized, neatly stored, and easily reachable.
    • Partner with Procurement and Inventory Control on inventory processes and issues including the best space utilization for inventory.
    • Responsible for the maintenance of the following equipment: delivery truck, forklifts, and equipment (i.e. reel trailers, etc.)
  • Logistical Operations
    • Coordinate our product logistics (i.e. minimal transportation costs, highest quality service, best lead-times, etc.).
    • Freight Scheduling - Coordinate the scheduling of our product shipments to and from our facility, utilizing both contract LTL carriers, flatbeds, and our in-house delivery fleet.
    • Carrier / Delivery Issues - Coordinate freight pickup/delivery, including issues that may arise as a result of shipping product via LTL Carrier or company fleet.
    • Customer Service - Ensure all our customers have the best possible logistical service.
    • Coordinate and consult with Logistics Manager when needed.
Additional Responsibilities Performed To Support Team Goals

  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
  • Pack/unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, or other areas.
  • Mark stock items and fiber using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labels.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to PA Warehouse Manager.
  • Prepare products, supplies, equipment, or other items for use by adjusting, repairing, or assembling them.
