Job Summary:

The Quality Engineering Tech leads a variety of projects to support AAON’s Quality culture. These include developing written processes and documenting procedures, training and mentoring of other employees, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing corrective actions. The Quality Engineering Tech also assures consistent product quality is maintained by performing periodic audits and inspections, identifying and evaluating non-conforming parts, identifying quality trends and assisting in continuous improvement projects.

Essential Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be comfortable in a fast paced, hands on manufacturing environment. The ability to work productively and manage deadlines on solo projects without losing sight of overall team goals is vital. Good communication skills, technical writing, and critical thinking are a must.

The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities for the position. However, additional duties may be assigned, as required.

  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel to gather data, troubleshoot issues, and improve processes.
  • Create documentation to support the manufacturing process including work instructions, procedures, visual aids, and training manuals.
  • Assist Quality and Production personnel to inspect and audit products and process compliance.
  • Investigate quality failures, provide trend analysis, root cause analysis, and provide support of assigned process improvements projects.
  • Implement trainings that reinforce our best practices, educate employees on standards and documentation, and develop the employee’s skills.
  • Work alongside Production to gain a firsthand understanding of issues and struggles then use this knowledge to develop solutions and document best practices.
  • Adapt training, programs, and documentation to a variety of learning styles, backgrounds, and experience levels to ensure it supports employee success.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • An associated degree, preferably in mechanical, electrical, computer, industrial or any other closely related STEM/engineering discipline is preferred. But, will consider candidates with experience in Quality, manufacturing, or data analysis.
  • Prior experience or understanding of large-scale manufacturing is highly desired.
  • Must be proficient in Word and Excel. Prior experience with Publisher, Visio, and PowerBi preferred.
  • Understand basic quality inspection, Continuous Improvement methodologies, Lean manufacturing, and process flow preferred.
  • Experience in Quality (ASQ CQE Certification), ISO, Lean, Statistical Process Control and Continuous Improvement methodologies are preferred. And certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or the willingness to pursue certification.

  • Stay current in quality design and methodology.

  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to walk unassisted in an industrial environment.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs unassisted.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
