Responsibilities
The Trauma Registrar collects, abstracts and enters clinical data for all trauma patients admitted to or evaluated by the trauma service. Data is entered into the pre-defined database to ensure the hospital remains compliant with all standards as they relate to Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons (ACS), National Trauma Database (NTDB) and the State of Oregon. The trauma registrar is responsible for ongoing data analysis and compilation through report building and review.
Education
Qualifications
Successful completion of AHIMA approved program or college degree in a health-related field.
Experience
Three years inpatient ICD-9(10) coding and/or Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding and trauma registry abstracting preferred.

- Computer and encoder skills.
- Ability to accurately perform ICD-9(10) and AIS coding.
- Capable of moderate keyboarding speed.
- Ability to read and understand medical terminology.
- Data Analysis
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

- Certified Trauma Registrar or Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist preferred, or certification completed 1 year from hire.
