The basic function of the position of Distribution Manager is to manage the receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming materials from vendors and the order picking and delivery/shipment of materials to customers, both from the warehouse and counter. Shift And Compensation
1st Shift
Compensation is from 30,000 USD to 50,000 USD per year
Job Duties
Hire, fire, and change the compensation and/or duties of any employee reporting to this position within the company policy and budget and with the President’s approval
Develop and implement normal operating procedures
Order repairs to rolling stock, warehouse equipment, to include trucks, vans, tow motors, warehouse machines
Authorize fuel purchases for rolling stock
Approve price discounts on counter sales
Arrange layout of warehouse storage and identify storage locations for individual items
Report adjustments of inventory to Purchasing to correct discrepancies
Cost control for the warehouse and counter
Ensure that company policies are observed by all departmental employees
Resolve departmental problems which arise
Ensure that rolling stock meets D.O.T. standards
Ensure working conditions in departmental areas are safe and meet OSHA requirements
Ensure all Delivery Drivers continue to hold a valid Commercial Drivers License per legal requirements
Ensure Drivers and Stock Personnel confirm damaged materials are not shipped to the customer
Ensure accurate periodic inventory is taken
Receive incoming shipments
Report discrepancies on actual loads from Bills of Lading or Purchase Orders
Act as Safety Director for the Company
Report shortages on customer orders
Direct daily activities of all departmental personnel
Staff the department to perform the departmental functions efficiently, on time, and within budget
Schedule delivery routes to maximize efficient use of rolling stock and personnel
Update task and duty lists for subordinates
Conduct periodic performance and compensation reviews of employees
Recommend to the President for the hiring, firing, and compensation changes for subordinates
Minimize overtime by effectively supervising departmental employees
Ensure drivers perform daily checks and periodic preventative maintenance on rolling stock
Conduct periodic safety inspections, hold periodic safety training meetings, investigate all accidents and file a report with the Administrative Manager, and take correction action to resole unsafe conditions
Periodically check that Delivery Drivers’ licensure or driving privileges have not been revoked
Instruct Warehouse Helpers to report damaged materials in storage and to not load damaged materials for shipment
Supervise both annual and cyclical inventories
Personally inspect incoming shipments for damage
Review and approve inventory adjustments for damaged or missing materials
Report outages of materials on customer orders to Purchasing Department
Provide back-up to Counter and Counter Phone
Background Profile
High School Diploma/GED Required
Associates Degree Preferred
Valid Driver's License
1 year of Supervisory Experience in Distribution Industry Required
2 years of Warehouse Experience in Electrical Components Preferred
