Job Summary

Garden State Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a full-time Lab Analyst, who will report to the Wet Chemistry Supervisor located in our Hillside, New Jersey Lab. The Lab Analyst will be responsible for using analytical methods to provide prompt and accurate testing for assigned environmental samples using approved standard analytical techniques that comply with our laboratory standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain log(s) of all samples received in the lab for assigned parameters for analysis.
  • Make sure all necessary supplies required for the assigned tests are in stock and current.
  • Maintain and update all logbooks associated with the assigned analytical procedures.
  • Check and verify that received samples are in proper containers for the requested analyses.
  • Check and ensure that samples are properly preserved prior to analysis.
  • Ensure that all instruments and equipment used for sample analysis are calibrated and in good working order prior to any sample analysis.
  • Prepare and perform sample analysis utilizing assigned instruments using current and approved SOPs and within regulatory holding times.
  • Submit all analytical results to the Technical Manager for review promptly to meet client TATs and expectations.
  • Perform routine maintenance of instruments and equipment as assigned.
  • Conform to all GSL QA/QC practices.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for self and other lab employees as required by GSL health and safety guidelines.
  • Notify management of any conditions that may adversely affect the suitability or validity of the requested analysis.

Other duties may be assigned by the technical manager to accommodate short-term departmental needs.

Qualifications

Experience & Education Requirements

  • At least an associate degree in science or an equivalent of two 2 years of environmental laboratory experience
  • A bachelor's degree in science is preferred, but not required
  • Laboratory supervisory experience preferably in wet chemistry analysis as an analyst.
  • Garden State Laboratories provides rigorous training to all new hires.
